State Name: Punjab History:
In 1947 the Punjab provenience was divided into two religious lines of West Punjab and East Punjab. The western Punjab was blended into as Pakistan while the East Punjab remained in India. This split mainly divided the Muslim into the western part and Sikh and Hinduís into the eastern part. The capital of the entire territory of Punjab, Lahore, defunct up in Pakistan after partition, so Chandigarh was built as the new capital for Indian Punjab. On 1 November 1966, the majority Hindi-speaking southern half of Punjab became a discrete state, Haryana. Chandigarh was on the perimeter between the two states, and became a separate union territory but doles out as the capital of both Punjab and Haryana.
